Taxes are a critical source of revenue for Nigeria’s government, providing funding for social services and infrastructure development. However, the country still faces challenges in tax administration and compliance, with low tax-to-GDP ratios and a high level of informal economic activity. The government has initiated several initiatives to address these challenges, including the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) and the Nigerian Tax and Fiscal Law Centre (NTFLC).
